Funeral service for Nelda Mae Bost will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Cliff Gravitt, pastor of Eastside Baptist Church, New Braunfels, Texas officiating.

Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.

Nelda Mae Bost, age 92 was born August 19, 1925 at Altus, Oklahoma to Arthur Lewis Stanford and June Irene Cruzen Stanford.  She departed this world and entered Heaven's gates on December 28, 2017 at Montevista Skilled Care Facility in Lawton.

Nelda and her brother, Robert, were raised by their maternal grandparents, Mattie and Frank Cruzen, in Oakwood, Oklahoma after the death of their parents.  Arthur Stanford passed away in 1927 and Irene Stanford in 1930.  Nelda joined the Methodist Church in Oakwood at the age of 12.

Moving to Anadarko in 1946, Nelda worked at Vaughn's Café until 1947 when she went to work at the Anadarko office of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.  She married Vernon Bost in Gracemont on January 21, 1950.  They moved to Lawton in 1950 when Vernon went to work for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and she transferred to the Lawton office of Southwestern Bell.  Their daughter, Jeanne (Verna Jean) was born in 1953 in Lawton. Nelda retired from Southwestern Bell in 1983 after more than 35 years of service. Vernon passed away in April 2002, shortly after they celebrated 52 years of marriage.  Her brother, Robbie, passed away in 2010.

Nelda was a life member of the Great Plains Telephone Pioneers and the Retired Telephone Ladies Club.   She joined Northside Baptist Church in Lawton in 2002.  She was a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class, Quilting Group, Jolly Elders, Hospitality Committee and active in many church activities.  She especially enjoyed going to sing fests at area community centers in Warren, Tipton, Hollis and Mangum.

Nelda is survived by her daughter, Jeanne and the best son-in-law she ever had, Dr. Robert A. Vaul, Jr., of Williamsburg, Virginia; a cousin, Martha and Paul Lana of Fort Worth, Texas; Vernon's nephew, Johnny and Glenda Bost of Anadarko; and her best friend, Cletta Hardage.

A special thank you to Dr. Robert Jones and the staff at Montevista Skilled Care for the excellent care and friendship given to Nelda since her arrival there in March 2014.
