She attended school at Medicine Park and graduated high school at Elgin, where she was deeply involved in home economics. She married Kenneth E. Hayes in Medicine Park on March 31, 1946. They farmed and were active in the First Baptist Church in Elgin and she taught young girls in the Girls In Action Mission Auxiliary. They moved to Cyril and she worked as a teller at a local bank. They were called to Cameron Baptist Church in Lawton and Naomi took over the job of training young women in missions with the YWA (later known as Acteens). She had the honor of having one young lady be elected as "Miss YWA of Oklahoma." She also served as Associational Director of Acteens for a year. She became a mother to a group of Camp Fire Girls, whom she continued to guide and train through high school. Kenneth and Naomi were chosen by the parents as co-presidents of the local Parent Teacher Association for Westwood Elementary School. She returned to college and obtained her Bachelor's Degree in 1972 in education and was a substitute teacher here in Lawton for many years. She also taught preschool children for over 20 years as a member of Jefferson Baptist Church, where her husband was pastor.
