Funeral service for MSG (Retired) Roger Bennett will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Lawton First Assembly Garden Room with Rev. David Hubbard officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow at Fort Sill National Cemetery under the direction of the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

Family will greet friends from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home

MSG Retired (Roger) Bennett, 77, passed on Wednesday, April 14, 2026, at his home in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Roger James Bennett was born on March 1, 1949, in Richwood, West Virginia to Dewey and Mary Vada (Amick) Bennett. He graduated from Nicholas County High School in Summersville, West Virginia and attended college until joining the United States Army in December of 1968.

Roger was stationed in Korea when he met the love of his life, Chong Yi, while visiting her store. The two began their 53 years of marriage on November 6, 1972. Roger retired from the United States Army in 1988 and opened Bennett's Carpet Cleaning. He owned his own business for twenty years before selling the company. During his retirement, he drove a bus for the Lawton Public School System.

Roger was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish as well as a marksman in both archery and firearms. Roger was also a musician who loved to play his banjo. More than any of these titles, his most prized were husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Chong Bennett; daughters, Jeannie Lee and husband Scott, and Cindy Bennett; and grandchildren, Sophie Lee, Andrew Lee, Ethan Dubose, and Olivia Dubose.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents.
