Age 76, Lawton - Services will be 9:30 am Friday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Chaplain (MAJ) Lee Rodgers, officiating. Sergeant Chadwell died Tuesday in Lawton. Burial with full military honors will be in the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home. Sergeant Chadwell was born on September 28, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri to Clyde and Ida (Gossage) Chadwell. He married Eleanor L. Burroughs in St. Louis, Missouri on June 5, 1954. He retired from the Army on July 31, 1984 after 30 years. He served in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, earning the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal-2, Bronze Star Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Four Overseas Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal-8, Army Commendation Medal-2, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon-3, and the Saint Barbara's Award. He worked for Civil Service at the Artillery School at Fort Sill until his retirement there. He was an avid bowler, participating in the Lawton Church League and the Retired Servicemen League. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club where he had served as president. He is survived by his wife of the home; a daughter, Deborah Chadwell of Lawton; a son, Dennis Chadwell of Wichita Falls, Texas; a brother and his wife, Harry A. and Roberta Chadwell of St. Louis, Missouri, a sister-in-law, Myrtle Remmler of St. Louis, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews. His 2 sisters, Mary and Beverly, his parents and a stepfather, Ed Moore preceded him in death.
