Obituary

Funeral services will be 12:00 pm Tuesday in the First Presbyterian Church with Chaplain (CPT) Scott Nichols and Rev. Bobbie McGerry, Pastor, officiating. Clifton N. Henderson died peacefully Friday, June 26, 2009 at the age of 89. Burial will be in the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home. He was born on April 27, 1920 in Wallace, North Carolina to Earnest and Vistula Henderson. He left Wallace, North Carolina to enlist for WW II. In Germany he met his love, Margaret, and they were married in 1949. In 1957 they had a son, Kenneth. After serving in the Korean War he was stationed at Ft. Sill. He rose to Master Sergeant and taught communications at Ft. Sill till he got his "20 years". He was a decorated veteran. He retired in 1963 and started Henderson Realty and ran it successfully with his wife for 25 years. They both enjoyed camping in the wildlife refuge, and visiting friends and family in North Carolina and Germany. Upon selling his business, they bought a second home in North Carolina to spend more time with his brother, Bill Henderson, and cousin, Linon Elston, who both survive him. He is also survived by longtime friends, the Fritsch's, Franklin's and the Sinor's. My Mom, his wife, passed away in 2002. My dad was a loving, generous man with friends and family, and is greatly missed by all of us. His service will be at First Presbyterian Church on ...with burial at the National Cemetery.
