Memorial service for Movelda Florene "Moe" Clarkson will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 3, 2018 in the church of Christ at Porter Hill with Paul Sparks officiating.
Burial was held in Hastings Cemetery, Hastings, Oklahoma.
Movelda Florene "Moe" Clarkson, 91, Lawton, was born to Ted and Varnelle Barker on April 16, 1926 in Hastings, OK; and went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2018 in Lawton.
Movelda grew up in Hastings, OK until the age of 10, at which time she moved with her family to Crockett, CA due to the dustbowl/depression. After graduation, she worked at the Naval Weapons Depot in Vallejo, CA where she was an "exemplary employee' for 25 years.
She was married to James P. 'Jimmy' Knott for 50 years in Rodeo, CA. From 1959 to 1973 they used materials from two houses they purchased in Rodeo to build a home in Alta, CA. Upon retirement they moved to Alta. Moe, or 'Tiny' as friends called her, wrote a news column for the local paper. They were very involved in church, the Alta community, and enjoyed traveling in their motor home.
After Jimmy's death in 1996, Moe enjoyed the company of many friends, family and her special 'widow's club' in Alta. She met and married William Floyd Clarkson in 1997, gaining a family of 4 stepchildren. They made their home in Lawton enjoying 19 years together: doing church work, traveling in their motor home with Soujourners, and watching their family grow. They spent many summers in Alta.
Moe was close to God all her life. She was very involved in the Lord's church, loved to entertain, an accomplished decorator; enjoyed collecting, thrift stores, and garage sales.
Movelda is survived by nephew Dennis (Rose) Knott, Lancaster, CA, numerous cousins in AK, CA, CO, OK, OR and TX; 4 stepchildren, 13 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and countless friends.
"Put God first, husband and family second. Friends are a necessity. Avoid sin and live to receive your eternal
home in Heaven. Life is but a vapor". A great lady who will be remembered.
