Funeral service for Mona Gail Bell, 88, Lawton, will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2014, in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Bell died Monday, December 1, 2014, in Lawton. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. Her name never changed: she was born Mona Gail Bell to Everett and Edna Leora Bell on January 15, 1926 in Davidson, Oklahoma, and later married Jack R. Bell on April 24, 1942 in Indiahoma, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1997. She worked at Montgomery Wards and Sears demonstrating Singer sewing machines and also worked as a food demonstrator for Fairmont Foods. Most of her life, however, she ran an in-home day care which began by caring for her grandchildren and later caring for the children of others. She continued to offer child care until she was in her early 70's. Her daughters say that often people share their appreciation for the love their children received while in Mona Gail's care; a trait she learned from her mother who also had operated an in-home day care. In addition to her family some of her favorite things were shopping and decorating her home. She was an excellent seamstress, making her daughters clothing while they were young as well as costumes for her daughters and granddaughter. She had been a member of the 6th & Arlington Church of Christ and at the time of her death was a member of the Northwest Church of Christ. While her husband was living she enjoyed playing dominoes with the "Friday Night Bunch". She is survived by three daughters and sons in law, Carolyn and Charles Chance, Oklahoma City, Jackie and Glen Hamilton, Lawton, and Shelly and Wade Fields, Lawton; seven grandchildren, Dean Chance, Darren Chance, Chad Chance and wife Trang, Bryan Pierce, Brandon Pierce, Heather Stringfellow and Clint Fields; 13 Great Grandchildren, Meghan Chance, Jessica Chance, Lindsey Chance, Alison Pierce, Kaelin Pierce, Madison Pierce, Collin Donnelly, Brandon Pierce, Jr., Briley Pierce, Avery Stringfellow, Baylor Stringfellow, Madden Stringfellow and Cayson Fields; three sisters, Shirla Kolinek, Joy Clark and Susie Mask. Her parents, a sister, Noma Lee Bell, and a great granddaughter, Brittany Pierce, preceded her in death.
