Funeral services for Miyo A. Shropshire will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2022, in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Caron Sessions, her niece officiating.

Burial will be in the Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

The family will greet friends Tuesday evening from 5pm until 7pm at the funeral home.

Miyo A. Shropshire, 90, of Lawton, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Miyo was born in Shizuoke Ken, Japan on June 17, 1932, to Itoro and Tezue Akiyama. She married Lonnie Dean Shropshire a U.S. Army "soldier boy" on September 19, 1958, in Tokyo, Japan. She enjoyed going to the casino with friends and sitting down and reading a good book. Her favorite thing to do and what she devoted her life to was spending time with her family. She was a founding member of the Soka Gakkai International Buddhist Community in Oklahoma. She served the Buddhist community for 59 years.

She is survived by her niece, Caron Sessions, her great nieces and nephews, and good friend Hazel Lucas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, six brothers and six sisters.
