Michael R. "Mike" Massey, 58, of Lawton, Oklahoma departed this life peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 after many years of dealing with the debilitating effects of a severe stroke.

Mike was the third child born to SSG (Retired) Walter and Dorothy (Williams) Massey on December 27, 1964 in Fliegerhorst, Germany. Mike being the headstrong person he was could not wait for his mom to make it to the hospital, so he was born at home. Mike was always known as a free spirit who enjoyed living life to the fullest. In his words "I've had fun, fun, fun ". Mike was a LHS football player with the class of 1982 where he valued fun over academia. His mom would often say "the teachers felt sorry for him and didn't want to teach him again ". After graduation he worked at the commissary on Fort Sill, then transferred to materials at Reynolds. After his time at Reynolds, he opened the Irishman Sports Bar and the Mug Tavern in Lawton where he could enjoy his favorite past times of drinking cold beer and watching football. On a more personal note, he married Michelle "Mikki" Malinowski in June 1989. To this union, a son Michael, his pride and joy, and biggest accomplishment was born in 1991. Mikki and Michael honored his wishes by being his devoted caretakers and kept him in the comforts of home with his loyal canine companions until the end. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Nathan Blacker, DO at LCHC for his compassion and patience in managing Mike's healthcare needs.
There will be no formal services per his wishes, but he requested that his friends and family to have a cold beer today in honor of him.
