Michael was born to Mr. and Mrs. Hilda Gras on June 18, 1951, in Frankfurt, Germany. Michael attended school in Germany and spoke of many memories that included his maternal grandfather. Hilda decided when
Michael was 10 years old after her sister Maria and husband Owen, Sr. had military orders to the states that they would be going with them. Soon after arriving Hilda met her husband of 38 years, and they married in 1976, and Ed became a part of a family that would grow to become one. Mike attended Sunset Elementary through his younger years and continued on to become a Altus Bulldog, graduating high school in 1964 and then furthering his education with Western Oklahoma State College graduating with an associate's degree in
business. After college Mike began his journey by joining the military, choosing the Army specifically after 2 years of service leaving with an honorable discharge then becoming a cross-country truck driver which he went with a couple of different companies then in 1983 he met Mary Childs and in February of 1983 they got married and of that marriage came Crystal, Michael, Mardi and Cristen. Mike ended up working for Gills Waste Oil of Lawton where he had the longest run of 26yrs of employment. Mike enjoyed fishing, hunting
and classic cars in which he had a collection of his own to admire. His favorite past time would be on his motorcycle or on his road trips with his son Mardi. Over the years everyone would come to know that
Mike wouldn't go or be anywhere Mardi was not, the two were quite the pair. Michael was a proud loving father, grandfather, husband and son. The life Mike and Mary shared came 4 kids, 7 grandchildren and
3 great grandchildren. He loved his parents Ed and Hilda Hald, his loving wife of 43 years and was very proud of all his children and great grandchildren. The pair also fostered a wonderful friendship with Paul and Ray Hickman in which they raised children together, shared many memories and summers which went on to be a 43-year friendship that will live on in the hearts of Mary and her children to include Rays children Maria, Glenn,Shannon and Daniel.
Michael was preceded in death by his son Mardi, parents Ed and Hilda Hald, his longtime companion felony the dog.
He is to be remembered as a humble man that worked hard and loved his family dearly.
