Master Chief Petty Officer (Retired) Allan D. Christensen, 86, went to be with the Lord on March 31, 2026, at his home in Lawton, surrounded by his loving family.

Allan was born on April 11, 1939, in Osnabrock, North Dakota, to Albert and Alma (McGregor) Christensen. He was raised in a large and loving family alongside his 12 siblings. During his youth, the family relocated to a farm near Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, where Allan developed his strong work ethic.

It was in Detroit Lakes where Allan met the love of his life, Elfrieda Strelau, while they attended "different schools together." The two became one on April 16, 1960, and were married for over 65 years. Allan graduated from Frazee High School and, shortly thereafter, enlisted in the United States Navy in 1957.

His Navy service was full of many memorable events for him and his young family as they were often stationed in San Diego and traveled overseas to live in Guam and Cuba. During the Vietnam War he deployed on the U.S. Navy Carrier, the USS Bennington serving as an Air Crewman and Navigator on board a Grumman S2F-1 Aircraft conducting Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) missions. Allan's passion for service and hard work paid off as he quickly rose the through the ranks, achieving Master Chief Petty Officer, E-9 in 13 years. He served as Master Chief of Command, Naval Air Station (NAS) Miramar (Fighter Town USA) when it was home to both Top Gun School and the Navy's Blue Angels, and again at NAS Leeward, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He also served at the Bureau of Naval Personnel, Alexandria, Virginia at the Master Chief assignments desk. He retired in August of 79 out of NAS North Island having served 22 years.

Allan would live in San Diego working contracting in avionics for the next 15 years. He worked on such projects as the improved solid fuel tanks for the rocket boosters used on NASA's Space Shuttle missions after the Challenger disaster. He would also work on the redesign of the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet.

Allan and Elfrieda would retire and move to Oklahoma in 1994 for one reason, Family! For the next 30 years Allan would spend his time being with his boys and their family. He loved and supported his grandchildren and was a huge part of their lives. Hosting family gatherings and attending every sporting event and school activity, Grandpa was always there. As the grandchildren grew older, he was at every milestone of their lives. From College Graduations, Weddings and the birth of Great Grandchildren, Allan would make time to be there every step of the way and continued to support and cheer on his Great-Grandchildren. He will be dearly missed, but the memories shared will last generations.

Allan is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, six sisters, and granddaughter, Diana Christensen.

He is survived by his wife, Elfrieda Christensen, of the home; sons, David Christensen and wife, Judy, of Elgin, and Todd Christensen Sr. of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Todd Jr. (Marissa), Matthew (Laurie), Valerie (Brad), Jonathan (Callie), Daniel, Jacob, Michael, Erin, and Peyton; great-grandchildren, Corban, Brody, Emilee, Nora, Lydia, Levi, and Camden; and three sisters.
