Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Elizabeth Smith will be 11:00 am Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Rev. Linh Bui Pastor of St. Ann's Catholic Church Elgin, Oklahoma officiating.

Rosary will be 6:00 pm Monday, August 25, 2025, in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel.

Mary Elizabeth Smith, 70, of Lawton, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, in Lawton. She was born on May 18, 1955, in Munster, Germany, to Arthur D. and Helen E. (Latham) Smith.

Elizabeth earned her bachelor's degree in music with a minor in physical education from Cameron University and her master's degree in library science from Southwestern University. She dedicated her career to education, teaching at Faxon Public Schools, Lawton Public Schools, and Howell Schools and Geronimo Road School on Fort Sill before retiring. She was an active member of the Oklahoma Educator's Association, National Educators Association, Alpha Delta Kappa, the Oklahoma Alpha Eta Chapter an international organization for women educators. She was also a member and past president of the Italian American Club of Southwest Oklahoma.

Elizabeth had a heart for service and was involved with Paws with Love and the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, bringing comfort to schools and hospitals. In 2024, she was honored as "Volunteer of the Year" for Fort Sill. She also shared her love of music as a member of the choirs at Blessed Sacrament and Holy Family Catholic Churches.

She is survived by her sister, Jamie Stacey; cousins, Jeane and Ron Dvorsky; cousins, Lee and Susan Ladd, and cousin, Kevin Dvorsky; and special friends, Mary Lara and Kathy Hickman.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
