Obituary

Funeral for Mary Helen McKesson, 76, Lawton will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Faith Bible Church with Pastor Leonard Reimer officiating. On Saturday, March 29, 2014 Mary McKesson was called to her heavenly home and was reunited with her parents, Ruben A. Nottingham and Hazel Hill Nottingham and her brother Bobby Nottingham. Burial will be in Post Cemetery, Fort Sill under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. She was born October 4, 1937 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Ruben and Hazel. She was the big sister to three younger brothers. While she was employed at Charley's Drive In, she met her life long friend, partner & soul mate, Edward L. McKesson. They married on February 7, 1958 and from that union they had three children, Connie, Linda and Michael. She totally supported her husband by being an example of what a military wife should be. While dad was serving our country, mom kept a beautiful home and the kids in line for over 20 years. She later went to work to use her God given talent as an interior decorator. She worked for Fowlers, Wagoner Carpets and then opened her own business, Individual Interiors, Inc. One in Lawton for over 30 years and Wichita Falls, Texas for eight years. She loved her business, being able to help every customer get their own "individual" look. Most customers turned into family friends. She also worked at Goodwill Industries as Career Developer. She loved helping people. Due to health problems she retired in October 2013 to be able to spend more time with her greatest love, her family. One of Mary's favorite places to go was Destin, Florida almost every summer for over 30 years with family. Traditional family gatherings were always in a planning stage and important to Mary. She was a faithful member of Faith Bible Church for over 50 years. She was active in women's groups, Sunday School, VBS, Pioneer Girls, Awana and any where else there was a need. She was responsible for the interior decorating of the present church location. Mary was also a member of Mountain Metro Ambucs where she was always ready to give the girls "relationship" advice with her quick wit. Survivors include her husband Eddie of 56 years, 2 daughters, Connie & Linda, a son, Michael, grandchildren, Andrew & Matthew, Kyle, Kyndall, Kallie, Lauren, Michael, Jr., and Molly; Great Grandchildren, Jacob, Raiden, Davyn, Karley, Katelyn, Kash, Lyllian, Braydon, Brayli, Terrell, Hallie, Jayden, Tristen and Bryson; two brothers, James Nottingham and his wife Monta Rae and Larry Nottingham and his wife Barbara, her best friend Carolyn McDole and her beloved dog "Sugar"; nieces and nephews, Debbie Tuck and Glen, Dana Weed and Mark, Shelly Linderman and Chuck, Tracy Gibson and P.J., Jimmy Nottingham and Van, Kelley Smith and Ty, Janay Roberts and Terry, Larry DeWayne Nottingham, Lori Tuggle and Scott; numerous great nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, great grandmother Reba Cox and many aunts, uncles and cousins. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mexican Mission Ministries; PO Box 636; Pharr, Texas 78577.
