Obituary

Funeral mass for Mary Louise "Lou" Kraus Magnusson, 77, Lawton, will be at noon Friday in the Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Philip Seeton, Pastor, officiating. Mrs. Magnusson died peacefully on Saturday, September 8, in a local hospital after a short illness, surrounded by her loving children, James, Disa and Donna. Burial will be in the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends on Friday from 9-10:30 am at the funeral home. Lou was born September 17, 1934 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to John and Mary (Profozich) Kraus. She met and then married the love of her life, Grimur "Mac" Magnusson, a member of the U.S. Army, on May 7, 1955 in Pittsburgh. His postings took the family to several far flung locations, but ultimately the family settled in Lawton. While Mac served a tour in Vietnam, Lou took charge of the family, learning to drive, manage the budget and raise three children single handed. After Mac's Army retirement, they both entered Cameron University achieving their lifelong dream of earning their college degrees, which they did triumphantly. Her life can be summed up in three words: Donna, James and Disa. Survivors include her husband CW2 (Retired) Grimur "Mac" Magnusson of the home; three children, Donna Magnusson Karpinski and her husband Greg, Singapore, Dr. James E. Magnusson and his life partner Melanie Brady, Norman, and Disa Magnusson, Broken Arrow; four grandchildren, April Whitlock Buchanan, Amber Whitlock, Jaime Magnusson and Jake Magnusson; six siblings, Jack Kraus, Joe Kraus, Jim Kraus, Edward Kraus, Roseanna Kraus Valenti and Catherine Kraus; and special friends, Heinz and Florence Noeding and Debby Norton Warren. Her parents preceded her in death. The family offers a thank you to all the fine hospital staff in the ICU at Comanche County Memorial Hospital.
