Obituary

Funeral service for Mary Ann Boucher, 69, Lawton, will be 10:00 a.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church with Shane Hall, Pastor officiating. Mrs. Boucher died Thursday in a Lawton hospital. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. She was born July 16, 1943 in Lawton to George A.C. and Betty Beatrice (Barrett) Teague. She grew up in Lawton and attended Roosevelt Elementary School, Central Junior High School and graduated from Lawton High School in 1961. Following graduation she married Jerry Boucher on July 8, 1961 in Lawton and has been a devoted wife for 51 years, making wonderful memories. Mrs. Boucher attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Cameron College and the Oklahoma College for Women and later graduated with a degree in elementary education from Cameron University. She had worked for two years as a secretary for the Child Welfare Department and the remainder of her career as a dedicated fifth grade teacher with Lawton Public Schools. She began teaching in 1971 and taught at Hoover Elementary School as well as Howell Elementary School, retiring in 1996 and has many students and parents she still remains close to. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church where she faithfully worshiped, and enjoyed fellowship with her church family. She had been a member of the OEA and NEA and was a docent at the Mattie Beal Home. She had many interests which included shopping, garage sales with friends, as well as a fond regard for the history of Lawton and surrounding communities. Although her life may have seemed to short for family and friends, those who were touched by her understand that the quality of life far exceeds the quantity of time which one lives. She will be remembered as a loving, giving, compassionate, woman of Christ, who lived life for her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, of the home; a daughter, Carrie Gonzalez, Lawton, a son and daughter in law, Scott and Lucy Boucher, Lawton; four grandchildren, Lauren Gonzalez, Marcus Gonzalez, Anna Marie Boucher and Rebekah Boucher; a sister and brother in law, Jeanie and Jimmie Alldredge, Lawton; two brothers and a sister in law, Wayne Teague and Dwane and Brenda Teague, all of Lawton; numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents preceded her in death. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leah M. Fitch Cancer Center of Southwest Oklahoma, 104 NW 31st Street, Lawton OK 73505 or to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1409, Lawton OK 73502. The family will greet friends from 2-4 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
