Funeral service for Maria Sharp will be at 10:30 am Friday, March 4, 2016 in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Bob Quinnett, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Lawton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, OK.
The family will greet friends Thursday evening, March 3, 2016 from 6pm until 8pm at the funeral home.
Maria Sharp, 85, Lawton passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in Oklahoma City. She was born December 16, 1930 in Mannheim, Germany to Emil and Berta (Wittner) Herold. She married SSG (Retired) Clyde H. Sharp on September 20, 1961 in Killeen, TX. For many years she was involved with the Robert E. Greiner School for the Handicapped in Lawton, helping students to work with arts and crafts. She was an artist, made ceramics and painted. She also was a military wife and homemaker.
Survivors include her husband Clyde Herman Sharp of the home, two sisters, Bertha Behm Hansen and Trudy Rickel, both of Mannheim, Germany, three brothers, Gunther Herold, Ferdi Herold and Walter Herold, also of Mannheim, Germany, granddaughter Petra Wagner and companion Richard Chandler of Framersheim, Germany, son-in-law Walter Schnellbaecher also of Framersheim, Germany, great grandson Justin Wagner, and special friends who are like family, Brigitte Schemonia of Lawton, Kathy and Bill Schemonia of Lawton, Tyler and Ryan Schemonia, Elaine Hanley and Gerald of Lawton, Renate Berger of Lawton, Susan and John Taylor of Peachtree City, GA and Mike Taylor and wife Heather and their two children, Olivia and Natalie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Christa Schnellbaecher and several brothers and sisters.
