Funeral for Maria Luisa Nunez Zelaya, 97, Lawton will be held at a later date in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Central America. She died June 10, 2011 in Lawton. Local arrangements are under the direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. She was born June 21, 1913 in Comayaguela, Honduras, Central America and moved to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1980 to live with her daughter Evelyn Grogan. When Katrina aimed for New Orleans they left on the eve of the hurricane and drove west to Lafayette, Louisiana, where they found shelter. At the suggestion of her daughter Martha Luz Fernandez, she came to live in Lawton on September 1, 2005. As her health declined she went to live at McMahon Tomlinson Nursing Center. Survivors include her daughters, Martha Luz Fernandez and her husband Luis A. Fernandez, Lawton Evelinda Grogan, New Orleans and Reina Lidylia Grogan, Honduras, a son, Julio A. Garcia and his wife Inez, Honduras, grandchildren, Martha-Lorena Simon, Chauntelle Cane, Carlos O. Paredes, Jr., Guillermo A. Paredes, Mirna Garcia, Marco A. Garcia, Arnoldo U. Garcia, Anthony D. Jordan, Bruce E. Jordan and Digna R. Munguia and her husband Marco, 20 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Agustina Nunez and Raymundo Zelaya, brother, Julian and sisters, Maria Eugenia and Maria Dominga.
