Age 66, Lawton - Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Friday in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Charles Kriss, Pastor, Calvary Baptist Church, Walters, officiating. Mrs. Akiona died Wednesday in a local care center. Burial will be under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home. Mrs. Akiona was born on May 22, 1942 in Lawton to George Curtis and Lela Wade. She married Noe Nolan "Ricky" Akiona on December 2, 1962 in Lawton. She graduated from Lawton High School and was a member of the Central Baptist Church. She ran the snack bar at Memorial Hospital from 1960 until 1976, and then ran the snack bar at the Comanche County Courthouse from 1976 until 1991. Survivors include two sisters, Roberta Mitchell and her husband, Leon, and Pat McKelvey, all of Lawton; two nieces, Shelley Simonsen and Kim McKelvey, both of Lawton; a nephew, Marty McKelvey of Lawton; two great nephews, Severin and Gunnar Simonsen, and two great nieces, Emily and Riann McKelvey, all of Lawton. Her parents and a sister, Kay Carey, preceded her in death.
