Madell Van Hoozer Buttram, 91, passed away peacefully on September 23 with family by her side. She awoke in Heaven to see her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ, her husband, Loal, and to see her daughter, Vicky, for the first time.
A celebration of life service will be held on September 27 at 10 AM at the First Free Will Baptist Church, 10 SW 24th Street, Lawton with Pastor Michael Converson and Wanda Kellett officiating. Funeral is under the direction of Becker Rabon Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Madell was born on March 11, 1934 in Lawton to N.B. and Florence (Craig) Van Hoozer. She was the baby of the family. She grew up in the Bethel community and graduated Central High School in 1951.

She worked for S.H. Kress, Ozmon Wholesale, Nash Finch Wholesale and the Lawton Teacher's Credit Union. When they started their family, they decided she would no longer work outside the home. Their first child, Vicky, died at birth, but Madell devoted herself to being a full time mother to their three children, Tim, Shelia and Keith. She also took care of their grandson, Aron, for many years.

For about 8 years after the kids graduated from high school, she worked as a Food Demonstrator at the Fort Sill Commissary and grocery stores in Lawton and the surrounding towns. She also cared for her mother in the nursing home for 14 years.
She joined the First Free Will Baptist Church in Lawton in 1968. She was active in women's auxiliary, vacation Bible school, taught Sunday school and was a piano player until she had her stroke in 2004, but attended until her health begin to decline in late July, 2025.
Her heart's desire - "I want my family who are not saved to get ready because their day is coming soon. I don't want any to go to hell. That is a terrible place. If you don't believe me, read your Bible." (written September 5, 2014)
