Lynette Marie Finger, 75, departed this life on Monday, April 22, 2019.

Lynette was born November 8, 1943, in Houston, Texas, to Richard Dallas (R.D.) and Valerie Helen (Griffith) Hodges. She attended Catholic schools through graduation from Incarnate Word Academy as valedictorian in 1961.  Lynette was strong willed and independent from an early age.  She enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh on an academic scholarship following a two day solo train ride from Texas.  From across the room at an ROTC dance she caught the eye of George Finger, a cadet, and in an instant he was thunderstruck by her playful nature, intelligence, spunk, and beauty.  She did not reciprocate, but he walked her to her dorm at the end of the dance.  Lynette married George on December 28, 1963 in Houston.  They were each other's first and only love and it marked the beginning of their nearly 56 years of marriage. They began their married life as a young military couple in Baumholder, Germany where their daughter Katherine was born in 1964 and son Richard arrived in 1966.  Their youngest son, Samuel, was born in 1970.  Lynette made a home for her family with each successive move from Oklahoma, Washington, Germany (twice), New Jersey and finally back home to Oklahoma in 1981.  Lynette had a zest for learning and adventure.  She completed and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences with a major in Political Science and History and a minor in Education in 1980 from Thomas Edison State University in Trenton, New Jersey.  She was an active volunteer in civilian and military organizations and Catholic parish activities and was a life-long member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.  Lynette loved challenges and throughout her life she embraced the difficult.   Her talents for fundraising were legendary.  During her amazing life Lynette was a loving wife, mother, and granny, and: school bus driver; Officer Wives Club and PTA president; special needs children's teacher; bossy church meal cook; expert seamstress; successful church carnival organizer and doll booth operator; seed company sales and warehouse manager; Camp Fire girls leader; master gardener and owner-operator of her own five hundred fruit tree orchard.  She walked more than one hundred Volksmarches, cruised to Alaska and white water rafted the Colorado River.  She passed her great work ethic to her children and grandchildren.

The family gives their thanks to Drs. Rosemary Bellino, Jennifer James and Geetha Kandimala, the Aspire Hospice staff, and their loving gratitude to caregivers Susan, Gwen and Whitney who served Lynette long and well with love and compassion.

Those left to celebrate her life, cherish her memory and carry her legacy include her husband George, daughter, Katherine Pritchard and husband Tom of Argyle, Texas, son Samuel and wife Nicole of Coppell, Texas; her grandchildren: Alexander Pritchard and wife Lacy, Sara Buelow and husband Jake, Michael Pritchard, and Andrew Finger, all of Texas; her sister Cecile Hedding, and brother Tom Hodges and wife Lucy all of Texas; her sister-in-law Phyllis Yeo of Pennsylvania; numerous nieces, nephews; and countless extended family and friends who loved her dearly; friends and neighbors of 30 years Deacon Tom Biles and wife Anne who faithfully brought the Eucharist and revived her spirit each Sunday for a decade; and neighbors Sharon and Maureen whose visits comforted, and improved Lynette's mind and body every Wednesday over many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Richard Henry Finger, and two sisters Elaine Wieck and Holly Taylor.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, 1010 N.W. 82nd Street, Lawton, OK 73505
