Burial with full military honors will follow in Fort Sill National Cemetery under direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

LTC (Retired) Terry Glen Johnson passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 26, 2025, in Lawton, Oklahoma, at the age of 77. He was born on March 20, 1948, in El Paso, Texas, to Glen Harvey and Lorene "Missy" (McGehee) Johnson.

As the child of a military family, Terry experienced life in various locations during his upbringing. The family eventually settled in Lawton, where he graduated from Lawton High School in 1966. On July 3, 1967, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Kay Browers, in the Little Chapel of Lawton.

Terry began his college studies at Cameron State Agricultural College and later earned his bachelor's degree from California State University in Long Beach, California. He proudly served in the United States Army for nearly 23 years, retiring at Fort Sill in July 1991. A Vietnam Veteran, Terry had a distinguished military career; he was the recipient of numerous honors, including the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and the Army Achievement Medal. His other decorations included the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal with service star, Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze service stars, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (two awards), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Parachutist Badge. His military education included the Field Artillery Officer Candidate School; Civil Affairs Advocate School; Airborne School; the Field Artillery Officer Advanced Course; and the US Army Command and General Staff College, graduating on the Commandant's List in 1984.

Following his military retirement, Terry continued his work in defense and technology, joining Raytheon as an advanced field artillery tactical data system engineer. He worked at Raytheon facilities in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Fort Sill, Oklahoma, from March 1992 until June 2012.

Terry was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and was involved in the Southwest Oklahoma Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA). He was currently serving as the Chairman of the Board of Comanche County Rural Water District #1.

In his leisure time, Terry enjoyed playing golf, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren and was deeply involved in all their activities. No matter how far he had to travel or what the weather was like, Terry could always be found in the stands or audience at their sporting events or performances. He also cherished spending time with friends, reminiscing about their glory days.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; two children and their spouses, Steven Glen and Lindsay Johnson, Tuttle, Oklahoma, and Cynthia (Cindy) and Derek Pever, Lawton; four grandchildren, Tanner Glen Johnson and wife Brynn, Forrest Pever, Lauren Pever and Braelee Smith; a great granddaughter, Violet Mae Johnson; and a sister, Susan Johnson.

His parents preceded him in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Southwest Oklahoma Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America, PO Box 2183, Lawton, OK 73502.
