Lowell Allen Ambrose, 90, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. Lowell was born April 15, 1936, and grew up in Tripoli, Iowa, where the values of hard work, humility, and community were instilled in him early in life.
As a young man, Lowell moved to Lawton, Oklahoma, where he built a distinguished career at Fort Sill, serving as Resource Manager. After retiring early, Lowell embraced a new chapter of life, one filled with adventure. He spent many happy years traveling the world, exploring new places and cultures, and treasuring every moment spent with the people he loved most.
Lowell is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Jean Ambrose, whose companionship and love brought him great joy throughout their life together. He is also survived by his daughters, Julie Cavazos (husband Joe Cavazos) and Christi Holmes (husband Steve Holmes); granddaughter Christi Johnson; and great-grandsons Luke and Theo.
He also leaves behind Charlotte Oates and Monte Connally, whom he loved as his own; grandchildren Colleen Aldridge and Marco Gagliardi; and numerous cherished great-grandchildren, each of whom brought light into his life.
Lowell will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his fondness for travel, and the love-filled years he shared with all who knew him. While his family will miss him terribly, they are deeply grateful for the many wonderful years they were blessed to share together.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations or patient care be made to the OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center.
He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed.
