Obituary

Funeral for former Lawton resident Lois Rene Johnson, 90, Oklahoma City will be at 10:00 AM Monday, February 2, 2015 at the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Tim Clausing, Physician's Choice Hospice Chaplain officiating. Mrs. Johnson died January 28, 2015 in Oklahoma City after a short illness. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. She was born Lois Rene Robeson July 11, 1924 to Edgar Albert and Ruby Lee (Williams) Robeson in Rubottom, Oklahoma. She married Henry F. Johnson on October 11, 1942 in Marietta, Oklahoma and moved to Lawton in 1951. Henry died in 2006. Lois worked for J.C. Penney from 1955 - 1957 and then in 1957 began her career in women's fashions at Sears in Lawton. She retired in 1986 but continued for many years to meet with her Sears Ex Club colleagues. She had many cherished friends and coworkers through the years. Lois moved to Oklahoma City in 2010 after living in Lawton for 59 years. She loved flowers, doing handwork and especially baking. For years she and Henry had a small farm near Faxon where they raised cows and vegetables. Lois became an expert gardener and canner. Both she and Henry loved to travel. They took car trips to every state in the lower 48 (some several times). They also attended Henry's reunions of the 304th Ordnance (WWII) in various locations. Lois was a devoted wife, mother and grand/great-grandmother who loved nothing better than a large family gathering. She will also be missed by all those who shopped with her, shared friendships, or just got to know her, however briefly. She is survived by two daughters and their families; Jeanie Ryder and her husband Bob, Wichita, KS and Nicol Sigerson and her husband Terry Stephens, Oklahoma City. Lois is also survived by Jeanie's children; Kerry Morris and her husband Aaron, Williamsburg, VA, Shelley Long and her husband Gordon, Frisco, TX, Christopher Ryder, Newton, KS and seven great-granddaughters; Ashley, Riley and Holley Morris and Emma, Abby, Megan and Samantha Long. Also surviving are her sister Pauline Robeson Sargent who lives in Colorado with her husband and near her son, Michael, half-sister; Patricia Moreno, Lake Tahoe, CA and her step-mother; Esta, of San Martin, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, a very young brother and sister and two half-brothers; David and Ray Robeson. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Physician's Choice Hospice, 1000 N.W. 139th Parkway, Edmond, OK 73013.
