Funeral services for former Lawton resident Lois Lorene Hood Martin, 91, Vernon, Texas will be at 10:00 AM Monday, August 20, 2012 at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. J.O. Howard, pastor of The Church of God officiating. Lorene went to be with her Lord on Friday, August 17th, 2012 at the Hospice Center of Wichita Falls. Burial will be at the Highland Cemetery under the direction of Becker Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Lorene was born August 6, 1921 in Duncan to Martin and Margaret Hood. She married Paul C. Martin on August 11, 1937 in Comanche. He died December 27, 2001. They resided in Stephens and Comanche Counties until settling in Lawton to raise their family. Lorene retired as a cook for Lawton High School. After retirement she worked beside her husband for Affiliated Van Lines of Lawton for many years before finally retiring to enjoy their life and extended family. She loved and cared for her family and friends; never turning anyone away that wanted a meal or a place to stay. She was honored for three consecutive years as the oldest citizen born on Lawton's birthday. She is survived by her children Don and Dorothy Martin of Kingston; Maxine Rich of Vernon, Texas; Freddie and Susie Martin of Lawton and Connie and Jack Smith of Kingston. 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 8 great great Grandchildren and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul C. Martin, a son Roy Mack (Skeeter) Martin, a great granddaughter Kodi Kelly, her parents, sisters and brothers.
