Obituary

Funeral for Littie Elizabeth Luna, 84, Lawton will be at 3:00 PM Tuesday at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mike Teel, associate pastor at Cameron Baptist Church officiating. She passed away Friday, May 27, 2011 in a Lawton hospital. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Littie was born February 8, 1927 the eldest child of Rufus and Virginia Lena Parson Allen in Yarnaby, Oklahoma. She spent her childhood in the Durant area moving to Lawton in the early 1940's. She married Jose (Joe) Luna on December 25, 1945 in Lawton. In October of 1964 Elizabeth began working for the Lawton Police Department as a "Meter Maid", marking cars in the then downtown area of Lawton. The story was long told in the family that she even marked the tires of her husband's car. She would eventually become a dispatcher and remained on the job for a little more than 24 years retiring in November 1988. Elizabeth was well liked and respected by her fellow co-workers of whom she made several lifelong friendships. She was a rare jewel among mothers and mothers-in-law as her family will quickly attest to. Those who married into her family knew without a doubt they were welcomed and loved. Her grandchildren had no problem getting "Meme" to sit in the floor and play with them for hours upon hours until a sroke in 2004 prevented her from doing so. Even then she played "Skipbo" with her grandchildren and with special friends at the Village On Lee where she lived out her remaining years. Elizabeth is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and J. R. Caldwell, Cache, two grandsons, Michael Lindsey, Lake Charles, Louisiana and Ray Caldwell, III, Cache, a granddaughter and her husband, Kristina and Jason Murry, Tulsa, six great grandchildren, Teyah Lindsey, Lake Charles, Karey, Nicholas, Alexander and Gabriel Lindsey, Arkansas and Adonaia Murry, Tulsa, three sisters-in-law, Peggy Luna, Lawton, Mary Ramos, Findlay, Ohio and Margaret Waskiewicz and her husband Rick, Lawton as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, her son, Joe Earl Luna, her mother Lena Drake, her sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Marshall Long and three brothers-in-law, Paul, Ben and Sam Luna.
