A memorial service for Lisa Gong McKague will be on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tom Trautman, of Elgin Methodist Church, Elgin, Oklahoma, officiating.

Lisa was born in Nanchang, China, on July 3, 1959, to Gong Zhaoqi and Shi Shuqin. She passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the age of 65.

Lisa met Tom McKague, an American, online, and they began corresponding via e-mail in 2007. Lisa did not speak English, and Tom did not speak Chinese, but with the help of Lisa's sister, who translated for them, over 700 e-mails were sent between the two. Soon, simply e-mailing was not enough, so Tom hopped on a plane and flew to Nanchang, China, where he and Lisa married on December 30, 2008.

Lisa enjoyed traveling with Tom and spending time with her family. She also loved her Chinese soap operas. She faithfully watched them on her iPad and even turned down an offer from Tom for a new TV because she wanted to take her soaps with her wherever she went.

Lisa is survived by her husband, of the home; a son, Hu Xumin; and a grandson, Yee Shin, brother, Gong Dizhi; four sisters, Gong Yuejuan, Gong Guijuan, Gong Chunfeng and Gong Fengjuan; one nephew, Wu Kai and wife Rao Hong.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
