Obituary

Funeral service for Linda (Herring) Woodman, 66, College Station, Texas, will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Jones officiating. Linda Faye Woodman, beloved wife of Richard Woodman, College Station, at the age of 66 stepped on a rainbow on May 14, 2015. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6-8 pm Thursday, May 21, 2015, at the funeral home. Linda Faye Herring was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on March 2, 1949. She was a graduate of Lawton Eisenhower High School in 1967 and Cameron University in 1971. Linda and Richard Woodman were married on July 29, 1975 in West Lafayette, Indiana. She began the College Station portion of her career with the Texas A & M Research Foundation in 1978 as an accountant. Her career was a very successful one as she eventually advanced to the position of Executive Vice President of the Foundation. She had retired in April of 2014. Linda tremendously valued the wonderful friends and colleagues she worked with over the years. Linda especially loved traveling with her dear friends and saw many interesting parts of the world in their company. She was very well read and informed. Linda was an excellent listener, easy and inviting to talk to and would listen thoughtfully and encouragingly to your opinion even when you were wrong. She loved music. Linda was fond of a variety of sports and was a particularly avid and talented skier. She skied regularly for many years. Friends in the last few days have described her as amazing, full of grace, genuine, tough, gentle, caring, incredibly sweet, kind and upbeat, always smiling, and generous. A niece stated: "She was simply one of those people you want to be around." She will be deeply missed. The family finds comfort in the belief that Linda is with her Maker and her Mother and we know her pain is over. Linda was cherished by and survived by her husband of the home, two children, David Woodman and his wife Angela of Norman, Oklahoma, Anna Schmidt and her husband Stephen, Jupiter, Florida, and three grandchildren, Hannah Woodman, Caleb Woodman, and Elizabeth Schmidt. There is also a Baby Woodman whose anticipated arrival on May 29 she was eagerly awaiting. Linda is also survived by her father, Clinton Herring Sr. of Lawton, Oklahoma, and seven brothers and sisters, Clint Herring and his wife Fran, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Earl Herring and his wife Ruth, Tulsa, James Herring and his wife Jane, Bloomington, Illinois, Greg Herring, Lawton, Ruth Anne Herring, Lawton, Cathy Herring and her husband Chris Wike, Lawton, and Shelly Lynne Williams of Plano, Texas. In addition, Linda is survived by a bevy of nieces and nephews all of whom she also loved dearly: Patrick Herring and his wife Stacey, Bridget Herring, Carrie Norman and her husband Brandon, Stuart Herring, Chris Herring and his wife Wendy, Shelly Farrar, Billy Logan, Shannon Chandler and her husband Chris, Catie Brock and her husband Jeremy, Heather Williams, Jared Williams and his wife Nelly, Cody Williams and his wife Cheyanne, Lila Trainor, Joe Trainor, Amy Kathman and her husband Cole, Terry Stephenson and his wife Jennica, Kate Stephenson and Reilly Woodman. We will stop here as there are also countless cousins, great nieces and nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Catherine Herring. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
