Linda Louise (Elliott) Toy was born in San Diego, California to John and Dolores Elliott on June 11, 1952. She has an older sister, Susan, and a younger brother, John Jr. She grew up in the Clairemont, California area and was active in the Clairemont Christian Church youth choir and at a young age performed many solos. She graduated from Clairemont High School in 1970 suma cum lade with honors. She was active in her teen years at the San Diego USO and was a Miss San Diego USO beauty queen. Linda attended Chapman Christian College and graduated magna cum lade in 1975 with dual degrees in Sociology and Bible. During college, she worked as a legal secretary and after graduating began attending the University of San Diego Law School with night classes.

As she joked many times, she ran out of money, so she joined the United States Army in 1978 with her recruiter promising her they would help her finish law school and become a JAG officer. The army changed its mind and sent her to basic training in Fort Benning, Georgia. She was in the last all Women Army Corps class (WAC). She then went on to Officer's Candidate School and was commissioned as one of the first ten women field artillery officers, a designation of which she was very proud. Upon graduation, she was assigned to Fort Sill, Oklahoma to the 6th of the 33rd Lance Battalion, then as the Commandant of Headquarters Battery at 3rd Core Artillery where she was promoted to Captain. She also served as West Point's Liaison Officer to the state of Oklahoma.

During this time, she met the love of her life, James W. Toy, a Lawton chiropractor, in a Sunday school class called "The Spares and Pairs" at First Christian Church Lawton. They were married October 22, 1983 and enjoyed 42 years of friendship and love. Linda's love for Jim was apparent in all her decisions and actions even during her final moments.

Linda and Jim were blessed with three beautiful children, Jonathan Andrew, Heather Diann, and Jason William. Linda embraced her role as a mom. She served in PTA/PTSA as president, home room mother, and event sponsor. Linda made each of her children feel loved and supported, helping each of them navigate the ups and downs of life. In all their choices, mistakes, and endeavors, she always had their backs. She opened their home to her children's friends, creating a place of hospitality and acceptance. From road trips to baseball stadiums to shopping trips to instilling music and navigation skills, Linda's love was displayed through her actions and words.

Linda loved to serve and worked faithfully in all her church homes. She was active in First Christian Church's board serving as the first woman Chairman of that board and holds the distinction of being the only chairman to have a baby while in office (Jason). Shortly after her board tenure, they relocated to First Baptist Lawton where she became very active in the choir, ensemble, Living Christmas Tree, Singing Church Women, and hand bells. She loved anything that had to do with music. She participated in mission work in places like New Orleans and Belize. She also served 11 years as financial controller at First Baptist Church. At the end of that term, she and her husband joined several members of First Baptist in founding NewHaven Church. She was active in the NewHaven worship team, taught children's church, and volunteered at the monthly Agape Lunch. She served as their financial officer and secretary, holding those positions for 15 years until health forced her to retire. She also worked many years with her husband at Toy Chiropractic Clinic both as bookkeeper and office manager.

Linda and Jim's favorite hobby was traveling together, whether adventuring in new places or returning to their favorite places of Disney World and Hawaii. She loved cruising and even had her own travel agent business (Sea the World Cruise Center). She didn't get to go to all the famous places she wanted to, but she did get to see Machu Picchu in Peru, rode camels around the pyramids in Egypt, cruised a Norwegian fjord and climbed the mountains to glaciers, explored many spots in Britain, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Turkey, and Greece, along with road trips all over the United States.

One of her biggest joys in life was being Grammie Lin to her seven grandchildren. She would jump on a plane or hop in a car to watch them in any play, recital, meet, competition or just to see their faces and give them a hug. She would take her grandchildren on their own adventures as well whether that was a trip to Disney or Universal, flying a grandchild out to Oklahoma, taking them to museums or shopping trips; a grandchild always knew it was going to be a fun day if it was a day with Grammie. She loved her family time, and only when diagnosed with ALS did she slow down. Even while ill, she still was determined to visit and watch her grandchildren do what they loved.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, and her brother-in-law. She is survived by her husband Jim, her children Jonathan and Crystal Toy, Heather and Michael Pooschke, and Jason and Casey Toy; and her grandchildren Brayden Toy, Haylee Toy, Mason Toy, Hallie Pooschke, Madalyn Pooschke, Kevin Toy, and Claire Toy, along with her sister and brother, nieces and nephew, and her sisters- in-law and brother-in law.
