Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lewis Arden Meek, better known as Lew, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who passed on November 29, 2024, at the age of 82.

Lew was born in Lawton, Oklahoma where he graduated from Lawton High School in 1960. Lew took his passion for electronics and enlisted in the Air Force in June 1960 where he served as a Radar Repairman. After four years of service to his country, Lew was honorably discharged in June 1964.

Lew next had a long and successful career working with his father's company, Grav-A-Name. He later took over management and renamed the company American Graphics & Awards which better reflected the company's product lines.

After the company was sold, Lew returned to his love of electronics and worked for many years as a senior electronic technician in support of various advanced trainers at Fort Sill. He was regarded as an expert in many areas of electronics and was frequently commended for his excellent work. He also served as a mentor to less experienced personnel and provided technical support to program and site management.

A quote that Lew often reflected upon was by Winston Churchill, "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." This sentiment perfectly encapsulates Lew's approach to life. He was a man who gave freely of his time, his talents, and his resources, always seeking to uplift those around him.

Lew's life was a testament to the virtues of generosity and selflessness. His hands, always ready to help, were a source of strength and reliability to his family and friends. His heart, always open and giving, left a lasting impact on the many lives he touched. Lew's spirit of service and his dedication to his family and country will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

He was a dedicated husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who continually sought to make everyone feel valued. He loved his savior Jesus Christ by demonstrating a life of humility, compassion, and honesty.

He is survived by his wife, two brothers, seven children, twelve grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Lew was preceded in death by his parents Jack Hayden Meek and Dorothy Louise Bennett Meek. Two very special grandchildren.

Graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Fort Sill National Cemetery under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 10:00 am at United Church of God,  6202 NW Birch, Lawton, Oklahoma officiated by Retired Pastor Don Hooser, followed by a lunch.
