Obituary

Age 69 , Lawton - Funeral Services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Marty Sheffield, minister, officiating Mr. Gagliardi died Monday in Lawton, Oklahoma. Burial with honors will be at the Fort Sill National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Leonardo Francesco Salverio Gagliardi was born on May 5, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY to parents Angelica and Isidore Gagliardi. He graduated from high school in NY and enlisted in the Army. He was stationed at Ft. Sill from 1959 - 1961 where he met his former wife, Ann Scarbrough. After his enlistment, he took Ann to NY and established a home and a hair salon in West Babylon, NY. Two children were born of this union; Angela and Nicole. Ann and the girls eventually moved back to Lawton and in 1977 Lenny sold his salon and moved to Lawton to be near his daughters. Lenny met Charlotte in 1978 and they married in 1982. Two additional children were born of this union; Colleen and Marco. Lenny owned and operated The Red Scissors, Inc. Salon and Spa from 1983 till January of 2010. Pops, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, was the kindest, most generous man to family and customers alike. At home he was known as First National Bank of Dad' since he never refused anyone in need, sometimes to the point that he did without. When asked to say his whole name, he would immediately go back to his NY accent, put the tips of his fingers to his thumb, flex his wrist, and roll off all 4 names, complete with the rolled Italian R. Then he would put those fingers to his lips and throw away a kiss to anyone in sight. Lenny loved many things. He loved sitting outside with his dogs, Romeo and Titan. He loved playing pool with his son, Marco. He loved watching action movies with his daughter, Colleen and he loved visits from his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren compete in various sporting events and dance competitions. But the object of his affection was his adoring wife, Charlotte, who stood by his side for 32 years and basked in the generosity of his spirit and his love. Survivors include his wife of the home; four children, Angela Cummings, Nicole May, Colleen and her husband Corey Aldridge and Marco Gagliardi; four grandchildren, Taylor Cummings, Jace Cummings, ShyAnn May and Camdyn Aldridge; a former spouse, Ann Gagliardi; a former son-in-law, Cecil Cummings; and many friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Marco Anthony Gagliardi. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leonard Gagliardi Cosmetology Scholarship Fund, c/o MacArthur High School, 4400 E. Gore Blvd., Lawton, OK 73507.
