Funeral service for Larry Don Grayson, 67, Lawton, will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, in First Assembly of God with Dr. Keith Miles officiating. Mr. Grayson died Monday, June 30, 2014, in Lawton. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. Larry was born May 22, 1947 in Lawton to J.T. and Nadine Grayson. He was a 1965 graduate of Lawton High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1968. Larry married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Phyllis Moon, on May 20, 1966 and they shared 48+ years together. The delights of their lives were their two children, J.C. and Angela Dawn; and their grandchildren, Ryan, Clayton and J.D. Grayson and Grayson and Ginger Reece. Larry's dad, J.T., started Grayson Sand & Gravel in 1951 with one truck. With dedication and hard work the business grew. Larry started working at the family business at the age of 17 and learned every aspect of the business. Larry bought into Grayson Sand & Gravel in 1971. Under Larry's leadership the business continued to increase and diversify with the purchase of T&G Construction by him and his dad. Together they also developed Grayson Mountain Estates and the Turnpike Industrial park in Lawton. Larry went on to build Interstate Storage and added Eisenhower Square, Southwest Ready Mix and RCJ Construction. Larry's greatest business accomplishment was teaching his children to be active in the family business. Larry took great pride in watching his son, J.C.; continue in the success created by his dad. Larry was a member of the Oklahoma Asphalt Association, Oklahoma Ready Mix Association, Oklahoma Asphalt Pavement Association and the National Asphalt Pavement Association. Larry loved to hunt and fish with family and friends. He also enjoyed spending time at the lake with friends. But his greatest joy was the time spent with his family, especially when the entire family went to one of their favorite places, the beach or South Padre Island, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of the home; a son, J.C. and wife Tammy Grayson and children, Clayton and J.D., of Lawton; a daughter, Angela and husband Jodie Reece and their children, Grayson and Ginger, of Lawton; one sister, Barbara Wiley, Lawton; and a host of family and friends. His parents, J.T. and Nadine Grayson; a brother, Michael, and a grandson, Ryan Grayson, preceded him in death.
