Kenneth (Ken) Ray Black passed over to Glory and onto his reward of union with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ forever on August 5, 2015, in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 79. Ken was born June 9, 1936, in Spiro Oklahoma to Cathey Willis (CW) and Ruby Mae (nee Carter) Black. He moved with his parents to Blanchard, Oklahoma in 1938. The family moved often in Central and Southwestern Oklahoma in search of work during the lean years of the Depression, World War II, and postwar recovery. In those years, Ken trusted in salvation through Jesus Christ and was saved. The family joined Bethel Assembly of God church as members in 1947. Ken graduated from Lawton High School in 1954 and began working at the Coca Cola Bottling Company in Lawton. Ken married Jessie Joella Putney in 1956. Following their divorce in 1975 he married Rosemary Lookenott (nee Steele). In 1978, Ken moved to Modesto, California, and worked as a plumber with his father and brother Jack, building homes in the Central Valley of California. Shortly after his retirement in 1998, Ken and Rosemary returned to Southwest Oklahoma, settling in Fletcher. Ken sang the praises of the Lord often, singing in the Richland Trio and Herb Henry Quartet of Modesto, in other church groups, and solo. He loved to attend Southern Gospel singing conventions and concerts. Upon his death Ken was a member of the Elgin Assembly of God church, pastored by his friend Larry Thoma. Surviving him are his wife Rosemary, children and stepchildren: Glynis Pope of Lawton Oklahoma, Cheryl Black (Mark Hill) of Sacramento, California, Luanne Taylor (Bob) of Atlanta, Georgia, Chris Black of Fletcher, Oklahoma, Mindy Lookenott-Fitzpatrick of Temple, Texas, Les Black of Simpsonville, South Carolina, and Trish Tallerico (Louie) of Manteca, California, as well as sisters Peggy Ogburn and Judy Isaacks, sister-in-law Jeannie Black, aunt Lura Brown (Wilbur), uncle John Taylor (Bud) Black, Jr., (Violet), 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends in Oklahoma and California.
