Obituary

Dr. Kelly Dean Means was born on January 31, 1965, in Lawton, OK, to Melvin and Geraldine (Thomas) Means. Kelly graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1983, received his Bachelor of Science from Cameron University in 1987, and then pursued his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma in 1992. Upon completing his surgical residency in 1997, he returned to Lawton to begin his lifelong dream of being a surgeon.

Kelly was known for his loud and gregarious personality. He brought so much joy to others. He cared deeply and genuinely loved his work family, always offering humor, advice, and guidance to those around him. As a doctor, he displayed nothing but the sincerest bedside manner and made every effort to provide the best care possible to every one of his patients. Spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren is what he loved most. Whether it was family vacations, holidays, or just being at home, nothing gave him greater pleasure than being surrounded by his family.

Christmas was his favorite holiday. He spent hours working to create the best light display in Lawton for everyone to enjoy. He was so generous with his heart and home, ensuring all those closest to him were together to celebrate the festivities. Kelly was a dedicated and avid fan of OU Football. You would always find Kelly in the stands at every OU football home game and OU/Texas game cheering on the Sooners surrounded by his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Christine Means; children: Ryan Means (Ashley), Dr. Lauren Thompson (Jonathan), Jordan Davis (Bryce), Halle Means, and Dillon Means; Extra Daughter Kaelan L. Ezernack; grandchildren: Amelia and Charli Davis, Jaxon and Zoella Means;

brothers: Joe Means (Marith), Kevin Means (Lisa), Keith King (Aimee), and Timothy Means; his parents-in-law: Jeddie and Sonny Disco; sister-in-Law Stacey Pereles; brother-in-law Damion Disco (Jamie) aunts: Genevieve Council, Libby Thomas, and Marsha Thomas; family friends, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Means, his mother, Geraldine (Means) King, and sister, Janice (Means) Myers.
