Obituary

Funeral for Katherine Louise Cropp, 86, Lawton, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ed Ikard officiating. Mrs. Cropp died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at her daughter's home in Murrieta, California. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Lawton. She was born in Burleson, Texas, on November 4, 1924, to Gaynell and John Cleveland Crawford, and she grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, where she graduated from Polytechnic High School and, on March 21, 1942, married Rev. William Carlyle Cropp, Jr. They raised four children: Linda, Susan, Gary, and Larry. In 1962, they moved to Lawton to continue their ministry by starting a church, Southside Assembly of God, where Rev. Cropp served as pastor and she served as a Sunday School teacher for over thirty years. Shortly after moving to Lawton, she worked for S. H. Kress & Co. A few years later, she began working at Meadors, where she sold women's and children's clothing and made life-long friends with co-workers who she always looked forward to seeing at their weekly breakfasts after her retirement in 1994. She crocheted blankets in her free time, always had a kind word, and cared for her family with a tireless devotion. She is survived by her children: Linda Wright, Lawton; Susan and Ron Prichard, Murrieta, California; Gary and Doreen Cropp, Rancho Santa Fe, California; Larry and Sara Cropp, Barnegat, New Jersey; her grandchildren: Greg and Norma Davis, Indiahoma; Kevin and Megumi Davis, Marysville, Washington; Steve and Gail Jeffcoat, Ladera Ranch, California; Anne Keating, Paradise, California; Stacey Wick, Carlsbad, California; David and Tracy Prichard, Corona, California; Lauren and Brian Streuter, Murrieta, California; Adam Leonard, Orange, California; John David and Yolanda Jones, Atsugi, Japan; Jenny Cropp, Vermillion, South Dakota; James Cropp, Seoul, South Korea; Catherine Cropp and Paul Abreu, Carregal do Sal, Portugal; nineteen great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her brother, Glen; her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Morris Barrow; and two sons-in-law, Monty Perkins and Steven Wright. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Southside Assembly of God, 902 SW 4th St., Lawton, Oklahoma, 73501.
