Julia Pearl Mixon Proctor, 91, Lawton passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.  Julia was born March 20, 1926 in Lawton to J.J. and Laura Jane (Montgomery) Mixon.  She was raised with two older brothers, two older sisters and one younger sister.  Knowing her true love since early childhood, Julia married Mansford Lyle (Buss) Proctor on October 31, 1940.  After 60 years of marriage, they were parted by his death in 2001.  Together they had three daughters whom they raised to be loyal Christians at the church they helped to start, Lawton Heights Church of the Nazarene.  They always showed their Christian faith, leading by example not only to their three daughters, but to the next five generations to come, making them a great inspiration to follow.  Julia made getting her family to heaven one of her main goals in her life.  She was very dedicated to her family, and they loved her for the wonderful mother, grandmother and role model that she was.  While Buss and the other sisters husbands were gone to war, they and all their children lived together in their mother's small house on Railroad Street.  Sharing in daily life and duties in such a small home cemented a lifelong sisterly bond that was already strong from their childhood.  Julia and her sisters would eat lunch together almost every day up until their deaths.  Due to Buss's military service, they moved several times including Germany, Hawaii and several stateside locations before retiring here in Lawton.  It was only recently discovered that Julia worked during the war as many women did during that time.

Julia is survived by her children; Rita Ralph, Janie and Darrel Knight and Carolyn Berdecia all of Lawton, her sister Juanita Justice, grandchildren; Julia and Sam Dennis of Lawton, Alysia Ashley of Dardandale, AR, Melissa Kirby of Lawton, Crystal and Chuck Powell of Edmond, Robin Wood of Lawton, Brian and Erin Knight with their children; Katie, Austin, Sofia and Cal all of Lawton, great grandchildren; Tiffany Tackett, Marita and Stephen Mediano of Dover, AR, Sarah Crellin of Lawton, Shawn and Janice Dennis of Apache, OK, Brandon Pittman of Lawton, Bethany and Joseph Hill of Weatherford, OK, Jessie and Dominic Garcia, Dylan Kirk, Jason Wood of Edmond, Megan Rawls and fiancé Tyler Colson of Lawton and 15 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings; Alfred and Lois Mixon, Cleo and Billie Mixon, Mary Lou and Floyd Boice, Betty and Ernie Roper, son-in-law Larry Ralph and grandchildren; Jeffrey Knight, Kara Berdecia, Kale Kirby and Mark Wood.
