Juanita Davis, age 97, Lawton, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018 in Lawton.  She was born on September 14, 1920 in Dallas County at Trinity Portland, Texas to William C. and Mamie Cropp.  She moved to LaJunta, Colorado when she was two and stayed there until moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma when she was seven.  When she was about nine years old the family moved to Fort Worth, Texas where she grew up and graduated high school.

Juanita met Claud H. Davis at Shield of Faith Bible School which later became Southwestern Bible College in Waxahachie, Texas.  Several of their grandchildren and great grandchildren have also attended there.  The couple married on June 29, 1940 and moved to Lawton.  With their first two children they served two years in the U.S. Army at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland.  While there Juanita had a clothing alteration shop.  She altered many soldier's uniforms as well as making Charlotte, Ruth and her own clothing.

Rev. Davis and Juanita pastored Bethel Assembly of God in Lawton for 44 years.  Juanita played the piano, organ, accordion and sang solos and duets with Bro. Davis.  Their signature song was "He Whispers Sweet Peace to Me" and hers was "It's Not the First Mile, but the Last Mile that's Important".  She also sang in a trio with her daughter, Debbie, and granddaughter, Kim.  Juanita and Claud had sung and played instruments in college, so it's only natural that music has played a big part in her family.

Juanita was the church secretary, Vacation Bible School director, Women's Ministries director, Ladies Bible Study leader and even managed a doughnut shop where they made, sold and delivered doughnuts once a week as a fundraiser.

Claud and Juanita's third daughter, Debbie, came along when Charlotte and Ruth were teenagers.  After retiring from Bethel the couple moved to Lawton First Assembly where they attended when they were first married.

She is survived by daughters, Charlotte Coffelt, Lawton, Ruth Wiedeman and husband Bill, Frisco, Texas, and Debbie Evans, Lawton; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Kim and Bobby Thompson, Melissa Whisenand, Rick and Della Coffelt, Crystal and Mike Berthiaume, Billie and Rich Ward, Scott Wiedeman, Terry and Heather Evans, Misti and Jay Delgado and Marci and Brad Clark; 34 great grandchildren, 24 great great grandchildren; her sister, Virginia White, Texas.

Her parents, husband, sister, Mamie Cecelia Cropp, brother, Rev. William C. Cropp, Jr. and son-in-law, Harold Coffelt, preceded her in death.
