Memorial service for Joyce Anne Hovis will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2023 in Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Matt Kelly, officiating.

Joyce Anne Hovis passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 68. Born on January 18, 1955, in Fort Jackson, South Carolina, she was the daughter of Earl and Julia (Baxter) Edelen. Growing up in a military family, Joyce experienced frequent relocations, eventually settling in Lawton, where she graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1974.

While primarily dedicating her time to homemaking, Joyce also worked as the co-operator of Ralph's Resort Café at Lake Ellsworth, alongside her former husband, Howard Hovis. Recognized for her ability and creativity to transform anything into a thing of beauty, she took pleasure in decorating spaces, exhibited exceptional skills as a seamstress, and possessed a green thumb. Over the years, Joyce cared for various animals and engaged in the breeding and raising of Shih Tzu and Yorkie breed dogs.

Joyce's life was marked by a myriad of passions. Fondly remembered for her involvement in competitive dart and pool leagues, she found joy in dancing and karaoke.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Clint Walker, Fletcher, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Kennadee Scammahorn, Adam Stiverson, Zane Walker and Cash Walker; her companion of 16 years, Jay Adams, of the home; three siblings, Linda Johnson, Columbia, South Carolina, Earl Edelen, Jr., Lawton, and Paul Edelen and wife Kimberly, Columbia, South Carolina.

Her parents and a brother, Randy Edelen, preceded her in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to LifeShare of Oklahoma.
