Age 71, Geronimo - Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ron Bartoli, Pastor, New Salem Baptist Church, officiating. Mr. West died Saturday in a local hospital. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. He was born on February 4, 1937 in Hollis to Ray G. and Ruby D. (Osborn) West. He married June Schmoker in Wichita Falls, Texas on April 28, 1973. He worked several jobs during his lifetime including drilling water wells, building houses, welding, selling mobile homes and custom combining for 20 years. He was co-owner of West Brothers Auto for many years. He was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church. John loved his farm animals, hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Chris West and Kathy West, both of Elgin; three sons and daughters-in-law, Brad West and Ruthie of Elgin, Mike West and Lora of Fort Worth, Texas, and Mitch West and Kelly of Geronimo; six grandchildren, Robert, Barbara, Shelly, Cody, Crista and Micah; three great grandchildren, Stephen, Joshua and Jaidyn; a brother and sister-in-law, Garvin L. West and Judy of Lawton; three sisters, Glenda Garton-Thomas of Lawton, Carol Monroe and her husband, Wayne, of San Diego, California, and Debi West of Dallas, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death.
