Age 86, Lawton - Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:00 pm in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Mitchell and Dr. William Pratt, PhD, officiating. Mrs. Means died Monday at an assisted living center in Altus. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home. Mrs. Means was born on November 4, 1922 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Dan and Sybil (Davis) Hubbard. She attended the Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha before earning her Bachelor's Degree at The University of Oklahoma. She married Dr. Royce B. Means, M.D. on August 9, 1946 in Oklahoma City. He died on March 23, 1991 in Lawton. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She was a member of the Phoebe class and was a worker in the Children's Library and Media Center. She was a member of WMU where she was the director in 1992-1993. She worked with family services at Head Start in Lawton, on the Election Board for Comanche County, and Meals on Wheels. She was also a member of Entre Nous and PEO. Survivors include her 4 children and 3 spouses, David Means of Lawton, Sheryl and Rev. Randy Mitchell of Blair, Oklahoma, Susan and Tommy O'Brien of Abilene, Texas and Philip and Kay Means of Lawton; 9 grandchildren, Randa Mitchell, Eric O'Brien, Michael Mitchell, Michael Pooschke, Adam O'Brien, Christi Mitchell, Bryan Means, Lindsay Mitchell and Kenton Means; a great granddaughter, Hallie Grace Pooschke; a brother, Wayne Hubbard of Tulsa; a brother-in-law, Dr. William Pratt, PhD of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister-in-law, Judy and her husband Michael Mowrey of Sunnyvale, California; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Velma Ruth McBirney and Eleanor Pratt.
