Jimmy Don Hobbs passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at his home in Elgin, Oklahoma. He was born on February 6, 1968, at Fort Hood, Texas, to Kenneth Gene and Ingeborg (Wehle) Hobbs.
A graduate of Elgin High School, Jimmy was known for his strong work ethic, kindness, and sense of humor. He married the love of his life, Lorie D. Misel, on November 10, 1989, in Lawton, Oklahoma. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, cherishing their time together, especially their much anticipated annual trips to Cancun.
Jimmy's dedication to his work began at an early age. Over the years, he held various positions, including working as a hardware clerk at Gibson's Discount Center, in the produce department at Buy For Less, and as a custodian at Cameron Baptist Church. In 1987, he found his calling at Becker Funeral Home, where he served with compassion for over 30 years. Later, he pursued a career as a Pharmaceutical Compounding Technician, working at Lawton Heritage Compounding Pharmacy before joining Anderson's Pharmacy, where he was employed at the time of his passing.
A man of faith, Jimmy was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church. He found joy in life's simple pleasures—fishing, relaxing on the porch, and listening to his favorite band, Def Leppard. A talented cook, he had a knack for turning whatever ingredients were available into delicious meals. However, he was best known for his incredible pecan pies, which he brought to every family gathering.
He is survived by his wife, Lorie D. Hobbs; a daughter and son-in-law, Heather Hobbs-Forbis and husband Dallon, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; a son and daughter-in-law, Luke and Amber McKee, Edmond, Oklahoma; his mother, Ingeborg Hobbs; his mother-in-law, Linda Misel; siblings, Suzan Wait and husband Mike, Kenny Hobbs and wife Susan, and Sandy Jolly; his sister-in-law, Lyna Neal and husband Kevin; brother-in-law, Lymann Misel and wife Jamie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
His father, a sister, Julie Ann Hobbs, and his father-in-law, DeLoy Misel, preceded him in death.
