Age 90, Lawton - Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Centenary United Methodist Church with Rev. William F. Todd, senior pastor officiating. Mr. Cregg died Sunday in a local hospital. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Becker Funeral Home. He was born August 15, 1917 in Enloe, Texas to Oliver J. and Dessie Louise (Stotts) Cregg. Mr. Cregg graduated from high school in 1936 and then graduated from East Texas State. He married Elia H. Petitfils on May 3, 1940 in Lake Creek, Texas. Mr. Cregg was a school teacher and principal in Lake Creek for one year. He then went to work for civil service with assignments in Waco, Texas, San Angelo, Texas, Lincoln, Nebraska, Texarkana, Texas, Milan, Tennessee. He came to Fort Sill in 1957. He retired as the civilian personnel officer in June 1972 after 30 years of service. Mr. Cregg was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, the Kiwanis Club, United Way and the Salvation Army. He coached baseball and football for Swinney Elementary School. He liked to hunt, golf and fish. He is survived by his wife, of the home, a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly Ann and Richard W. Schafer, Tulsa, two sons and daughters-in-law, John Oliver and Georgianne M. Cregg, Lawton and Terry Dayton and Sally Ann Cregg, Fort Worth, Texas, six grandchildren, Russ W. Schafer and his wife Christy, Tulsa, Ryan W. Schafer and his wife Holley, Ardmore, Ian Harper Cregg and Ashton M. Watson, both of Lawton, Kiley Cregg Cook and her husband Tim, Beaumont, Texas and Jarret Dayton Cregg, Fort Worth and a great grandson, Jackson Cook, Beaumont. He is preceded in death by a brother, Lane Cregg and two sisters, Mozell Cregg Moore and Clara Cregg Hicks.
