Obituary

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Sullivan Village Church of Christ in Lawton, Oklahoma with Steven Hill, Minister, officiating.

Jerry Allen Monroe, 62, of Lawton, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Jerry was born on August 11, 1962, in Newport, Oregon, to Jerry William and Judith Marie (McCrae) Monroe. He married Sylvia Leal Prieto on January 16, 2007, in Toledo, Oregon.

Over the years, Jerry worked various jobs before dedicating more than 30 years to the Labor Union. He was a hardworking and generous man who brought joy to everyone he met—because, as many said, he never met a stranger.

Jerry had a love for the outdoors, enjoying fishing, hunting, and horseback riding. He also had a passion for motorcycles, especially his Harley. He was rarely without a dog by his side and cherished the companionship they brought.

A man of faith, Jerry loved the Lord and was always a welcoming presence at church, greeting everyone with a warm smile. He enjoyed singing in church. He was also a collector, amassing an impressive array of guns, knives, and tools over the years.

Jerry was a very loving and giving man and had a special place in his heart for his children and family. His warmth, humor, and love for life will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Jerry is survived by his parents, his wife, Sylvia, two children, Valerie McElroy and Mason Monroe, two stepchildren, Kevin Murray and wife Cyndi Lynn and Julie Murray, one grandson, Jared Marshal, one sister, Patty Jones and husband Steve and many extended family members.
