Jeneanne J. Lawson, 88, Lawton, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 at her home in Lawton.  She was born August 8, 1929 in Lawton to James W. and Dorothy Aliene (Nichols) Johnston.  Her family owned and operated C&J Printing in Lawton for many years. She was involved in the newspaper and print industry her whole life.  She graduated from Cameron Junior College in 1949.  She was a member of the Collegian staff, serving as editor of the paper.  She was active in the Pep Pirates and the Cameron Players.  While a Cameron student, she served as Women's Editor for the Lawton Morning Press.  She wrote a column of local high school activities while still in high school herself.  After graduating with an associate degree in Communications, she continued her education at the University of Oklahoma, where she earned her bachelor's and master's in communications. She taught communications at the higher education level before ultimately becoming a highly successful fundraising professional.  Ms. Lawson is a member of President's Partners, has been a supporter of KCCU and supported the Centennial "Changing Lives" campaign.  Jeneanne was very generous in her charitable donations to the Lawton community, and especially Cameron University. Her work with the Cameron University Foundation was her passion later in her life.  She was deeply committed to promoting the educational interests and benefits of Cameron students and southwest Oklahoma.  Ms. Lawson has been one of the largest donor's in the history of Cameron University and to many charities in the Lawton community, all while not expecting any recognition to herself.  In 2013 Cameron University named the tutoring center the "Jeneanne Lawson Tutoring Center" in honor of a gift from her.

She is survived by her longtime caretaker Barbel Cordel and her loving dog Cricket.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bob Lawson.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Cameron University Foundation, 2800 W. Gore Blvd., Lawton, OK 73505 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
