Jeffry I. Schutte, age 60, of Lawton, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 in Lawton.
He was born November 30, 1957 in Fort Bragg, South Carolina to Jimmy and Linda Schutte. He spent his early years on the various army posts where his father was stationed. The family finally settled in Lawton where Jeff graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1976.
After graduation Jeff worked as a cashier at the Ft. Sill Commissary for a while before moving to Chickasha where he worked as a proofreader for the Chickasha Daily Express. Over the years, Jeff spent many hours volunteering for the library literacy program, volunteering as a reader for Chickasha Public Schools as well as helping his parents with their various business ventures.
Jeff moved back to Lawton in 1996 where he took up residence at the Benjamin O. Davis High Rise. He met Cheri Sorge in November 1996. They became engaged two years later and were married on June 12, 1999 at the Little Chapel of Lawton. Jeff and Cheri enjoyed going to church; spending time taking walks; gardening; eating out, having date nights and spending time with friends and family
Jeff was many things to many different people. He liked people from all walks of life, the stranger the better. Jeff was an International man of no mystery. He was an open book ready to share his life with everyone he met. He loved reading, music, gardening, teas and cooking. The spicier the food the better. The more exotic the tea the better. He loved games, especially the ones he could find a way to win at.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Cheri Schutte, sisters, Beth Traina of Bonham, Texas, Janelle Jones (Terry) of Lawton and Jeryldine Schutte-Pogue (Pamela) of Elgin, brother-in-law, Ronald Edgar of Fletcher, nieces and nephews, Robin Moore of Lawton, Tiffany Atchley (Brian) of Bonham, Texas, Rachel Edgar and Jacob Edgar of Elgin, great nieces and nephews, Dustin Moore of Grove Town, Georgia and Kaylee Moore of Lawton, Camryn and Kadyn McCarley of Bonham, Texas, Kaylen and Holden Atchley also of Bonham and mother-in-law, Barbara Jo House of Wichita Falls, Texas.
Jeffry was proceeded in death by his father, Jimmy Schutte, father-in-law, Jim Carlile, nephew, Dustin, niece, Kelly and brother-in-law, Ross Traina.
Jeff had a larger than life spirit that touched everyone he came in contact with. Despite being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at a young age Jeff managed to live his life to the fullest. He was loved by many. He will be missed beyond imagining.
