Obituary

Surrounded by her loving family, Jean Ann Jones peacefully passed away at the age of 86 on Saturday, February 10, 2024, in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Jean, affectionately referred to as Momma Jean by many, was born June 11, 1937, in Houlton, Maine to Harry and Florence (Ellis) King. She grew up in Houlton where she later tied the knot with Linwood "Linnie" Jones on July 9, 1957. The couple later moved to Scarborough, Maine, residing there 23 years until Linnie's retirement. Shortly after, they returned to the Houlton area until Linnie's passing in April of 2003. Jean then moved to Lawton, Oklahoma to be near her daughter and family.

Soon after moving to Lawton, she became a volunteer with Hospice of Southwest Oklahoma, later accepting a staff position. Jean was a member of First Baptist Church of Lawton and had been a member of the Red Hat Society.

Jean had many talents, including sewing, knitting, crocheting, and ceramics. She also had a passion for reading and took pleasure in playing games, especially relishing victories over her daughter and friends in cribbage. Jean enjoyed traveling with family and friends, especially her annual mother-daughter trips.

Jean is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Candace and Berrian Seabrook of Lawton; two granddaughters: Desirae Seabrook of Arlington, Texas, and Nicole and Matt McDonald of Moore, Oklahoma; and two great-granddaughters, Colleen and Ava McDonald.

She is also survived by her stepson and his wife, Alan and Vicki Jones of Houlton, Maine; two granddaughters: Kristy and Stacy Jones of Houlton, Maine; and three great-granddaughters, Lauren Brooker of Bangor, Maine, Sydney Howell and Lyndsay Jones of Houlton, Maine; and many loved nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, Wendell "Duke" King, and Harry "Junior" King.

Our beloved Mom, Momma Jean, Grammie, GiGi, Auntie JJ will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held in Maine at a later date.
