Obituary

Age 94, Lawton - Graveside service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Sam Rodriguez, assistant pastor of Beal Heights Presbyterian Church officiating. Mrs. Hamilton died Monday in Lawton. Burial will be under the direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. She was born December 15, 1915 to Ole and Beda (Christenson) Nelson in Clay County, Kansas. When she was two years old the family moved to Tillman County, Oklahoma and settled on a farm near Davidson. Jean attended and graduated from Victory Consolidated #11 School. She took cosmetology training in Frederick and started work in Lawton. She owned her own shop for many years on D Ave. and then moved it to her home. She married Andy H. Hamilton on November 15, 1952 in Oklahoma City. He died September 18, 1998. Everyone knew her as a very generous person who took meals to the elderly and cared for her family and customers. We all are deeply honored to have been blessed with her love and laughter. She is survived by two nieces, Velta Rae Gaddis, Bixby and Lois Weaver, Elk City, two sisters-in-law, Una Nelson, Elk City and Laura Hamilton, Oklahoma City and many great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Leonard O. and Bernard L. Nelson. Memorial contributions may be made to Beal Heights Presbyterian Church, 614 S.W. Park Ave., Lawton, OK 73501, Hospice of Southwest Oklahoma, PO Box 2074, Lawton, OK 73502 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
