Graveside service for Jean Downs will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 6, 2024 at Fort Sill National Cemetery.

Burial with military honors will be under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

Jean Downs, age 75, of Lawton, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at her home. She was born December 16, 1948 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to William G. and Marjorie Mae (Lovelace) Schmoldt.  When she was two, the family moved to Portland, Oregon where she graduated from Marshall High School in 1966.  She joined the Women's Army Corps (WAC) in 1973 and served until 1976.  She met Robert Downs and they were married in 1975 in Germany.  Their son, Jeffrey was born in 1976.  Jean worked for Civil Service for over forty years. The family accompanied Robert on three tours of duty in Europe and other duty stations in California and Massachusetts.

Survivors include her son, Jeff and his wife, Kenna, grandchildren, Isaiah Haughney and family, Heaven Easley and family, Rebekah Bell and family, sister, Ruth Ann Elliot, niece, Leigh Ann Marteeny and family and a nephew, Tom Elliott and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and grandson, Elijah.
