Memorial service for Jean M. Buhl, 83, Lawton will be at 1:00 pm Monday at Cameron Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Jones, Pastor officiating. Mrs. Buhl died Wednesday in a local hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. She was born March 30, 1927 in Grand Haven, MI to Garrett and Anne Catherine (Borgman) Sytsma. She grew up in Grand Haven until she was nine years old, when her family moved to Chicago. She graduated from high school there. She married Lonnie R. Buhl in February of 1981. He passed away in October of 1995. In 1988 she moved to Owasso, OK from California, and then moved on to Lawton. She was a member of Cameron Baptist Church, where she was faithful to the Worship Ministry, and was a member of the Sweet Adelines for many years. She volunteered with many different ministries, including the Prison Ministry, Prayer Ministry and various Retirement Home Ministries. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her three daughters, Lynn Wyrick and husband Virgil of Lawton, Carol Hale and Ernie Banker of Anniston, AL, Kathleen Verba of Tulsa, OK, two sons, Arthur Hale, Jr. and Jo Anne of Los Angeles, CA, Lee Verba and Caroline of San Diego, CA, seven grandchildren, Lesley Slevin of Marlboro, MD, Walter Wyrick and Colleen of Lawton, Chris Slevin and Fire of Fayetteville, NC, Jeannie Wyrick of Lawton, Justin Jackson of Emory, TX, Madison Verba of San Diego, CA, Morgan Verba of San Diego, CA, and six great grandchildren, Jessica Belcher of Alexandria, VA, Katy Chance of Sylacauga, AL, Alex Chance of Sylacauga, AL, Virgil Dumas of Lawton, Andrew Perry of Marlboro, MD and Jason Holtz.
