J.D. Knippenberg, Jr., age 74, Lawton, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016, in Oklahoma City.

The family will greet friends from 6-8 pm Thursday, January 14, 2016, at the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

J.D. was born May 28, 1941 in Cumberland, Maryland. He lived many different places during his childhood and graduated high school in Suffield, Ohio. J.D. was employed by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 33 years and at the time of his retirement in 2000 was an equipment setting engineer. He moved to Lawton in 1988 and on February 5, 1993 married Paula Halman. J.D. was particularly fond of riding his Harley.

He is survived by his wife, Paula; a son, Eric Knippenberg and a daughter and son in law, Kim and Tim Span, all of Ohio; a step daughter, Kelly Crosier, Ohio; six grandchildren, Raquel, Jimmy, Brittany, Timmy, Kayla and Austin.

His parents, James Donald Knippenberg, Sr. and Mary Ellen (Bowman) Knippenberg, preceded him in death.
