Clemons, 88, former Lawton resident, will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 25, in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bob Burch, Baptist Minister, officiating. Mr. Clemons died Thursday, March 21 in San Antonio, Texas. Burial with Navy honors will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Clemons was born February 25, 1925 in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Judson Charles and Zella (Liles) Clemons. He grew up in Lawton, graduated from Lawton High School and attended Cameron College. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy from July of 1943 until March of 1946. He survived his ship being sunk by a torpedo off the coast of Okinawa on April 1, 1944. Mr. Clemons had managed both The Thing Grocery and Sooner Grocery before going to work for Johnson's Milk Company. He retired from Preston Milk Company. He had been an active member of Cameron Baptist Church. He moved to San Antonio after the birth of his first great-grandchild. He took great delight in being a part of the lives of all his great-grandchildren. He was a very loving, tenderhearted man; proud of his service in the Navy; and loved God with all his heart. He is survived by two daughters, Gail Collier Bradley and husband Skip, San Antonio, Texas, and Karen Elaine Clemons, Richardson, Texas; two granddaughters and their husbands, Melanie and David Robbins, Billings, Montana, and Larissa and Michael Whitney, San Antonio; five great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Brooke, Tyler, Trenton, and Ella; his former spouse, Lee Clemons, Lawton; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
